Mia Togo - Personal Brand Photography in London - Yoga Teacher, Trainer, Coach and Therapist
This has got to be one of my favourite shoots ever! Mia was such a joy to get to know and photograph, and I love what we made together in the Autumn.
As a yoga teacher + teacher trainer, life coach, therapist and much more, Mia is passionate and dedicated to bringing the true essence of yoga to people, about acknowledging and owning our shadows, and working with both the light and dark of our nature in order to live from a place of real truth and love.
When Mia and I first connected, she’d quite recently moved from Los Angeles to London, so was ready to update her shots to reflect her new home and environment, and bring some of her Cali warmth to the London scene.
On the day we were lucky to have sunshine AND some rain, which is kind of perfect really, when your message is about holding the contrast. She was also preparing for her new coaching course, Coming Home To Wholeness, and was having her website revamped, so it was exciting to start afresh and get to learn about Mia as we planned the shoot and felt-in to what we wanted to say with these new images.
Mia supports her clients to come to a greater acceptance of where they are, and of how they’ve come to be here. Whether through physical practices or psychic/spiritual practices and explorations, her work is so much about releasing old patterns of being and behaviours, in order to understand the now, and move into the future with greater intention and consciousness. Having experienced Mia’s shadow work coaching myself over a period of months, I found the experience so helpful and powerful, (and at times rightly uncomfortable!) as I moved through my life with so much more awareness of my inner monologue, the judge and critic in me, beginning to become more aware of some of my blind spots and find greater compassion for myself, those around me and the wider community.
The ripple effect of her work truly helps to create a kinder world… when things shift at the individual level, and we can acknowledge and explore what’s really going on in there for ourselves, facing our experience and working with it rather than running away from it, we can begin to change the internal patterns and cycles that keep us stuck where we are. When change happens personally, it has a ripple effect.
Her work is so deep and so very personal, so we wanted to create images that were intimate and really present with the viewer. We wanted to capture lots of colour and brightness, and ultimately keep it real, natural and authentic.
Planning our 1/2 day shoot to take place at her home, local neighbourhood and at a nearby park, this shoot is also a testament to the huge variety of images we can create when we have lots of options for nearby locations and outfits! It was a beautiful day and I’m thrilled with the shots.
You can check out Mias offerings at her website here, see how she’s used the images, and I hope you enjoy some of my faves from our shoot below!
