Getting outside for creativity - Exmoor Landscape Photography
I went out to the moor with my new lens a few weeks back for a little test. It was one of those days where the weather changes quickly (I’m realising though, that that’s just Exmoor for you)!
The light was picking out all the details of the baby leaves & the curves of the hillsides so beautifully, & I watched rain drift in through the valley in curtains, wondering if I should really have come out with my kit as it approached!
I loved the twin trees in this field and watching the sheep & their lambs :) I remember on this day I had felt flat & unsure what to do with myself, wanting to make photos, but the weather had been mostly wet so I had been putting off going out with my camera.
I’m so glad I did in the end, because I really like these images, and it reminds me that if it is possible, it is usually always better to get up & give things a go rather than only thinking about them.
P.S. I know I'm not alone on this journey of showing up for my art, as through the many conversations I've been grateful to have with creatives (aka, everyone), showing up for our art practice can feel simultaneously like a challenge AND vital to our wellbeing.
If you know you’re an artist too but have been struggling to show up to your practice or don't know where to start, (or if you're simply curious to explore the creative potential that lies within you!), I would *love* to have you come along to my next workshop on Friday 9th July, where we'll reconnect with the knowings that...
✨making art is allowed, no matter where you're at
✨creative expression is for all humans regardless of 'talent' or 'artistic ability', &
✨life feels richer when we're connected with creativity, & we totally get to choose how we make space for it in our days & weeks & months!
At Commit to Creativity, we'll reconnect with inspiration, we'll acknowledge what's getting in the way of your creative practice right now, get excited about the creations you *would* like to bring forth, & find ways to make time & headspace for YOUR self-expression. Tickets are just £15 and you can book your place via link in prof. I would love to see you there. All you need to bring is your journal and a favourite pen! :)
