Personal brand photography in Somerset - Jon Waller - Archetypal Astrologer, Coach & Writer
Taking photos of your loved ones for their business can be super fun, special, a little bit awkward, surprisingly frustrating, and always hilarious.
I did lots of shoots for my mum when she had her coaching business (in our favourite local places, venues where she worked with clients, and even on travels in Miami, Sedona, and LA)! We always had such a laugh but it was sometimes unexpectedly challenging for both of us.
Have you ever had a loved one take photos of you for your work? Or been the one taking the photos? I wonder if you relate?
It’s interesting how what is captured reveals something of not only the ‘subject’ and the photographer, but the relationship and dynamics between them.
As a photographer my job is to have a really good understanding of my clients work in the world, hold them in a vision of their greatness, power, innate worth and brilliance, with everything they are stepping into, and capture the fullness and spirit of who they are at this time.
The version of ourselves we are with our closest ones is not necessarily who we are all the time with our clients, or would want to show in our personal branding photos. Shoots with loved ones can call for extra intentionality, playfulness and patience! To allow it to be what it is.
As the spring continues to unfurl I am reminded of this session with my partner Jon that I never got around to sharing. Since this day in May 2022, his Archetypal Astrology work, sessions and writing has blossomed (and his hair is definitely at least twice this length - time for some new photos!). It’s been amazing to watch his work deepen and expand and the person he becomes on this journey.
Here are a few favourites from that day, taken in one of our favourite wooded Exmoor valleys around Danes Brook.
You can check out Jons writing, poetry and offerings on his website here.
