It’s so exciting to be supplied with a powerful library of new photos you love…

Showing up with fresh energy and beautiful visuals can give such you a confidence boost, inspire you to show up more fully, and have your audience re-engage as they witness the shift!

Now that you’ve got your photos, you may be keen to get them updated EVERYWHERE all at once! Or you might choose a gradual refresh as you revamp your site, socials, emails and more over time…

Below you’ll find my checklist of what to now you have your new photos. As always, take what resonates and leave the rest. These are offerings to help get you get going if you’re not sure where to start, and I hope they are useful!

  1. Take time to familiarise yourself with your new photos.

Grab a cuppa, put some uplifting music on, and have a proper peruse of your gallery.

Be really kind to yourself as you slowly look through them - we can often be our own worst critic, and it’s often an unusual experience to see soooo photos of ourselves.

Notice any initial ideas that pop up about how or where you might like to use some of the images, and take note of those. If you have the sudden urge to use any of the shots right away, crack on!! It’s amazing what ideas can bubble up when we see our new images, they can inspire all sorts of things to happen! Follow the inspiration and see where it takes you!

  2. organise your photos, if you wish.

Reorganising them may look like making a folder of ‘favourites’ (I always do this!), themed shots, or arranging your images based on their composition (e.g. headshots, banner images, etc). Or, you might just be happier to stick to the way you received them if that makes best sense in your brain. Find what works for you! (Check out my full guide of tips on how to organise your photos here.)

  3. Update your profile photo in all the main places you show up professionally!

This part is so fun as you start to share the fresh look. For your new headshot, you’ll want to choose a photo where you’re…

    • looking at the viewer, not looking away from the camera (eye contact helps you to connect with your audience)

    • you’re easy to see and connect with (for your main shot, no harsh shadows or artistic effects that stop us from seeing you!),

    • the background is fairly uncluttered, not distracting from your face, or making you totally blend in,

    • you’re bringing the kind of greeting that you would bring to YOUR ideal clients through your expression and energy.

Examples of where to update your profile photo: your ‘about me’ page, your profile photo on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Zoom, WhatsApp, Skype, subscriber welcome email, email signature, member areas in all the places you log-in professionally, etc.

  4. clarify where you intend to use your new photos & put in priority order.

The temptation may be to GET ALL THE PHOTOS OUT THERE ASAP! And that’s okay! But we can’t do everything at once, nor may you want to.

Re-visiting or creating a list of the places you are intending to use your new photos will give you a checklist of where to start.

For example, you might want to update your website banner, course content, email newsletter image, press pack, etc (You can check out this list for inspiration if helpful.). Put your list in priority order, so you know where to start, and begin to work through your list.

  5. Pull from your gallery of new photos when creating posts on your blog or social media

Now that your new shots are ready to go, you can choose photos from your gallery when you’re looking for the right shot to accompany your new article, blog post, Instagram story and more.

I hope you’ve found this useful. Let me know what works for you, or if this inspires any new ideas for you? I’d love to know.
