Personal brand photography on Exmoor, Somerset - Portraits in nature - Misti Bliss
It was such a pleasure to collaborate on this relaxed personal brand photography session in nature with Misti Bliss, on beautiful Exmoor.
When Misti reached out in the summer, she was ready for a fresh library of natural, soulful, fun and nature-based imagery for her personal brand.
A number of years since her last shoot, her previous images were no longer reflecting who she was, and with an exciting new project in the works AND a milestone birthday this year, the time had come for aligned new photography.
It was an honour to collaborate on these images with her.
Misti is a joyful cold-water swimmer, getting in the sea almost every single day! She’s a writer, artist, leads nature bathing and laughter yoga sessions, and works with survivors of sexual abuse through events, retreats and her online group.
When we had our first call, Misti & I realised we had a lot of mutual connections, not only here in the South West, but also from our previous lives in the South East (we both used to live in/near Brighton). It was lovely to have those familiarities.
Before the day of our shoot we shared conversations to get to know each other better and I learned about her life and journey, work and offerings, passions and values.
A vision began to emerge of the kinds of images that would be most supportive for this chapter ahead. We talked about the locations that would feel most aligned, the outfits and props to incorporate, and energies we wanted to have shining through. Nature was obviously a strong theme for the images!
As you may know, I often offer my clients an opportunity to take a few moments to ground before we start taking photos. (This is totally optional but usually welcomed). A guided meditation / prayer of sorts, it’s a moment to realign with our intention for the session and the images. On this shoot, Misti also led a beautiful forest bathing meditation… we connected to our surroundings, seen and unseen, above and below, past, present, future, which was a very meaningful way to honour this special place we were getting creative in.
We had a lot of fun marvelling at the magic of nature and creating these photos together.
Here are just a few of my MANY favourites! I hope from these images you can feel Mistis joy, sense of adventure, reverence for nature, and free spirit.
